Case Study - Solar Farms
BLC Energy and Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust (ORIT) partnered to develop a 500MW pipeline of solar energy and co-located battery storage across the UK. ORIT is part of the Octopus Energy Group, and BLC Energy commissioned Zedaxis to develop interactive geovisualizations of five planned solar project sites, for the purpose of public consultation.
The interactive 3D applications were made available at public consultation meetings to communities to interact with and inspect in order to understand how they might be affected. Traditional static visualizations and photomontages, which are typically only created for a small number of viewpoints, do not provide the freedom for people to explore the potential impact of a development on the places that matter to them. The 3D geovisualizations allow that, and result in a better understanding for everyone involved, and a more sustainable approach to renewables scheme development.
"The Zedaxis team have built 5 3D models of solar farms which we have used in public consultation events. These have proved invaluable and were very well received by those who attended. The quality of work done was superb and they have been very accommodating with our requirements and short turn around times." - Neil Lindsay, Managing Director of BLC Energy
