NASDAQ-traded Canadian Solar is a global leader in solar energy and energy storage solutions. They are one of the largest solar panel manufacturers and solar farm developers in the world. As the UK moves towards more sustainable energy production, Canadian Solar have been involved in the development of multiple solar farm sites throughout the UK.

Solar2, a UK-based renewable energy consultancy, approached us to work with Canadian Solar to develop visualizations of seven planned solar farm sites, for the purpose of public consultation.

We produced models of seven sites across the UK for Canadian Solar, which were made available at public consultation meetings to communities to interact with and inspect in order to understand how they might be affected. Traditional static visualizations, which typically are only created for a small number of viewpoints, do not provide the freedom for people to explore the impact on the places that matter to them. The 3D geovisualizations allow that, and result in a better understanding for everyone involved, and a more sustainable approach to renewables scheme development.
